Hatchlings

(6 to 8 years old)

Pre-Requisite Skill Level

Program Description

Must be able to swim at least 5m on front and back, without assistance, or less than 5m with direct support of an adult or flotation device. At the discretion of the NCAC Coach, swimmers who cannot complete the minimum requirements unassisted may need the participation of a supporting adult. Parents of non-swimmers (who swim less than 5m unassisted) should plan to have a responsible adult available and willing each week to enter the class to support the child.

  • The Hatchlings program introduces the art of competitive swimming while maintaining a fun, interactive and engaging approach to beginner and developing swim skills.

  • Swimmers will learn the basics of movement in the water, lane etiquette, pacing and breath control.

  • This program maintains a workout-style approach, and swimmers are expected to increase endurance by repeating minimum distances (5m-25m) both with and without floatation devices. Session swim distances will generally total 75m-750m
