turtles 9 to 11 years old

Pre-Requisite Skill Level

Swimmers must be able to swim a minimum of 25m uninterrupted with recognizable front and back crawl, jump into deep water, and swim a minimum of 5m. Parents of swimmers who have aged out of Hatchlings but may struggle with the endurance requirements of Turtles are encouraged to register and highlight concerns with the Head Coach on-site or by emailing info@ncacswim.ca

Program Description

  • The Turtles program teaches the art of competitive swimming with a particular focus on swimmer efficiency and learning the strokes in a manner that decreases the risk of wear-and-tear injuries and sets the foundational skills for life-long swimming.
  • Through increasingly challenging swim sets, swimmers hone their swimming skills and develop their mastery of starts and turns, pacing, and endurance.
  • This program maintains a workout-style approach, and swimmers are expected to increase endurance by repeating minimum distances (25m-100m) with and without flotation devices. Session swim distances will generally total 500m-1500m.

Young swimmers listen to coaches at a pool during swim practice.
